BiographyHistory

Charles John James was an English printer. In April 1878 he purchased The Cooktown Herald with Reginald Spencer-Browne, and published it until March the following year. In June 1879 he established The Western Champion in Blackall, Queensland with his brother, Frederick Robert James, and William Henry Campbell. In 1886 they shifted the newspaper to Barcaldine, where they continued to publish for the remainder of their lives.
