Priscilla Boney's stepson, Lloyd James Boney, was only twenty-eight when he was found hanged in his prison cell in Brewarrina, New South Wales, only ninety minutes after being arrested. His was the sixteenth death in custody in 1987. His passing became the catalyst for the Royal Commission into Deaths in Custody.
Priscilla Boney took part in a 'Deaths in Custody' float in the Festival of the Fishes parade in 1987 in Brewarinna to raise awareness about Aboriginal deaths in custody.
