BiographyHistory

Dr Henry Phillip William Hughes worked as a Church of England parson before becoming co-proprietor with Thomas John Wright of The Northern Standard and Townsville Argus in 1878. In June that year, Hughes sold his interest to Wright, but continued as editor. Hughes was unsuccessfully sued for libel by James McManus of The Townsville Herald.
