BiographyHistory

Born in Bateman's Bay, Joyce Ingram avoided being taken by the police when she was a child because her father, a merchant seaman, was working. Her parents moved the family to Redfern, Sydney when Ingram was a baby. Ingram was never taught her language because her grandmother refused to teach her a language that would soon have no more speakers. Living in Leeton for a period of nine years, Ingram married Charlie Morgan in 1942 and had four children. Joyce Ingram later married George Lockyer Ingram in 1949 and moved back to Redfern.
