Lewis Beale's mother was Florie Walford from Walgett and his father was Richard Beale also from Walgett and had spent ten years in Kinchela Boy's Home. The family lived in a tin humpy on Namoi Reserve. It had two rooms and a tent alongside which had two single beds in it. In 1957 Lord and Lady Woodward went to a property, Roma, where Lewis was working. He once cooked a meal for them.
