Aubrey Weatherall was born in Dirranbandi 1932. His father was Gordon Weatherall from Boomi and his mother was an Orcher from Weilmoringle. His grandfather was William Welsh a 'pommy' who came to Australia as a court interpreter and could speak seventeen languages. In 1980, after working the land and rodeo riding Weatherall became sick with prostate cancer. The doctors gave him sixteen months to live but more than two decades later he was still active in the community. Weatherall worked for ten years at the Drug and Alcohol Program at Namoi House in Walgett as a counsellor.
