BiographyHistory

Val Weldon's mother was Dolly Kennedy, nee Hamilton, and her father was Roy Kennedy. Val was instrumental in setting up an Aboriginal pre-school in Wagga Wagga; she successfully applied for funding from the then Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs for a 15 seater bus to pick up Aboriginal mothers and their kids. Later the group received funding for a building from the Aboriginal Development Commission for the Wiradjuri Long Day Care Centre, where she was the Director. Val sits on many boards such as the National Aboriginal Community Health Organisation, the Wagga Wagga Community Education Development Program, the Central Southern for the Wiradjuri Aboriginal Legal Service, the Riverina Medical and Dental Organisation (of which she was a founding member), the NSW Children's Service and the Coast City and Country Doctors GP Training at Wagga Wagga Hospital.
