BiographyHistory

Annie Phillips was an Aboriginal woman from the Walpiri area who served as 'cottage mothers' to children at Manga Manda. She tells her story of the secret women's business corroborrees that were conducted when children such as Lorna Nelson were taken away. Phillips describes how the authorities would not let them carry out these corroborrees and would disperse the Aboriginal women by shooting in the air.
