BiographyHistory

Sue Henry was born in Wollongong Hospital in 1958. The address on her birth certificate reads: 14 Official Camps, Port Kembla. Her grandmother, Violet Carriage, was a Queen of her people. The family moved around following seasonal work. They spent much time picking peas and beans in Bega but traveled as far away as Port Augusta, South Australia for work. Henry began work at a glove factory at Port Kembla and then a clothing factory in Woolongong and the Bonds factory at Warilla.
