From independent South Australian theatre group The Border Project comes "Half-Real", a production that draws on the Zeitgeist of the gamer generation to concoct a new kind of theatre - one that has the audience steering the experience. Casting the spectators in the role of investigators in a murder mystery, "Half-Real" uses the ZigZag controller system (developed by The Border Project with media artist Matthew Gardiner) to have them determine how the story unfolds - as they rewind or replay scenes from different perspectives, enter the minds of characters, and rewrite the significance of events that have taken place. "Half-Real" pushes the boundaries of theatre as it leads us down into a labyrinthine narrative; the audience might be playing detective, but are they, in turn, being played?' 'A gritty, dark comedy based on the allegory of Cain and Abel, "One Long Night in the Land of Nod" tells the story of two brothers caught in a web of deep distrust, despair and resentment. Set against the poetic backdrop of a dusty sheep station, brothers Kane and Aaron reunite after ten years of estrangement, as their father lies dying from leukaemia.
