BiographyHistory

Adams spent a brief period in the Australian colonies during the 1860s. During the early 1860s he had been a Fellow of New College, Oxford, and he subsequently wrote a number of works on geometry and mathematics. His first book, Outlines of Geometry, was published in Melbourne in 1866. During his time in Sydney, Adams gave numerous lectures at the Mechanics' School of Arts, and he appears to have also worked as a tutor. Further details of his life in Australia remain to be established. Later in life Adams became a noted scholar and Egyptologist.
