James White was a Melbourne clergyman. A book titled The Law and the Gospel was published by a James White in Victoria some time in the first decade of the twentieth century. A Reverend James White is listed as being a member of Committee number 22 in the 5th Parliament of New South Wales, from 16 March to 7 April 1868, and a member of that Parliament from 1865 to 1869.
