BiographyHistory

Ethel Buckle is a member of the Stolen Generations. A new date of birth and new names were given to her when she arrived at Kahlin Compound in 1926 or 1927 after being removed from her mother at the age of seven or eight years. For many years Buckle was unable to trace members of her family, although she knew she had a sister by the name of Gladys who visited her when her mother died. A medical officer at the Channel Island Lerosarium informed Buckle that her sister Gladys was a resident there and that their family name was Love.
