Educated under the traditional laws of the Gooniyandi people, Mirando was a member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Troupe in Sydney in 1989. After his father's death in 1990, he returned to live in Fitzroy Crossing. As an actor, Mirando appeared in Jimmy Chi's Bran Nue Day, Sally Morgan's 'Sistergirl', the SBS series, The Circuit and the 1996 film Dead Heart.
