Freddie Cox was the eldest son of Billy Cox, who was the original selector of Louisa Downs Station in the Kimberleys of far north Western Australia. Cox was born before the turn of the century and had a brother Davey who was believed to have lived in the West Kimberley area. Cox and his wife Nellie had five sons and two daughters; Dudley, Frank, Michael, Jack, Fred, Alice and Sarah. His son Frank Cox (qq.v.) cared for him until his death. Freddie Cox was buried alongside his father Billy on the Louisa Downs Station.
