BiographyHistory

Stan Bowden was taken from his family and placed at Bomaderry Home for Aboriginal children run by United Aborigines Mission. He was later sent to Kinchela Home for Aboriginal boys run by the Aborigines Welfare Board. Bowden was told that his parents had died but later discovered that he had brothers and sisters. On meeting them he discovered that his father was still alive and was reunited with him two weeks before his death.

Bowden was in the merchant navy for ten years and was then employed by Link-Up, an organisation established in 1980 to reunite Indigenous adults who were removed from their families and fostered, adopted, or institutionalised as children.
