George Tucker was born on Winning Pool Station. While the log book at Winning Pool states his birthdate as 3 May 1952, he later found out he also had a May 1953 birthdate. As an infant, Tucker was taken from his parents and placed in Nullagine Mission. He stayed there with his young brother Archie for fourteen years but when the mission closed Tucker and his brother were returned to their mother, Blanche Tucker at Mulga Downs Station.
A year later Tucker and Archie were again removed from their mother and sent to a mission school at Marble Bar. They returned to Mulga Downs on school holidays and eventually both returned to their mother and worked with her on the Stations. Tucker was initiated according to Aboriginal Law, and after the 1967 referendum the family moved to Roebourne and later on went to live on the Onslow Aboriginal reserve. At the age of fifty, Blanche, Tucker's mother, died in his arms at the Ngurawaarna community in 1986. Tucker's grandfather died of asbestos disease.
