BiographyHistory

Nellie Jones was born on Rocklea Station, her birthdate is unknown. Nellie's father was Wakin, but her mother's partner Johnny Dick was the one that raised her. Her brothers are Mirru George (q.v.) and Listen Listen James (q.v.). Nellie's tribal name is Kurrama and she belongs to the Banaka skin group. She is married to Chubby Jones (q.v.) in accordance with Aboriginal custom, and they had four children. Jones worked at the station as a domestic, looking after the children and gardening.
