BiographyHistory

Chubby Jones was born on Rocklea Station; his birthdate is unknown. Jones' father was Cutacross George, whose Aboriginal name was Dhurlja and he worked as a stockman. His mother was Wankja she was from the tribal group Kurrama and she worked as a domestic. Jones had one brother and one sister (now deceased). His skin group is Karimarra. Jones never went to school and at a young age he worked on Stations in the Pilbara and was a drover at Juna Downs, Turee Creek Station, the Jigalong Mission and Prairie Downs Station. He went through the law at Jigalong because he was working near there.
