BiographyHistory

Edgar Birch was born at Quonban station in the Fitzroy area three miles from Jubilee Station. He has both Aboriginal and Afghan heritage. Birch's father was head stockman at Quonban and his mother was of the Nyigina language group. Birch was removed from his parents and taken to Forrest River Mission. He was employed as a tracker, stockman, drover, bore mechanic, and later on went to work for Arthur Bruton in Wyndham, north western Australia, servicing mail planes, and military planes.
