BiographyHistory

Reginald Hayden is an Elder from the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. He is the second eldest of twelve children to parents Rueben and Phoebe Violet Hayden (nee Nelson). Hayden lived in the bush with his family in a corrugated iron shack until the age of eleven when his parents moved to the Merredin Reserve. After completing high school, Reginald first went to work on a farm with his grandfather at Doodlakine and later worked for Westrail and the Public Works Department. During the early 1970s he opted for National Service training rather than jail for eighteen months. Hayden later married and with his wife, raised a large family.
