BiographyHistory

Florence Williams has lived in the Mt. Barker region for over forty years. She is the daughter of Daisy Hedlam from Mt. Magnet and is one of twelve children. Because her father was unable to care for all of them, the youngest five were sent to Pallotine Mission. Florence lived at the mission for two to three years before her mother came to collect her. Florence later met and married Fred Williams, a Noongar man from Mt Barker after he came to Meekathara to work on a shearing gang.
