Hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s 2024 single work drama

'Do you remember your first gig, concert, or music festival?

'The first time you heard Nirvana? When your heart sped up, your knees went weak, and your body started doing things you could not explain?

'1992. Charles and Di are breaking up. Dolly magazine is a young girl’s only source of information. And Kurt Cobain is still alive. In suburban Adelaide, 15-year-old Rhiannon is living with her mum Linda, forever buoyed by her favourite radio station and DJ Barry, whose voice appears everywhere and is the authority on everything. Surrounded by teenage droids, Rhiannon seeks out Suzie, a muso from the record store. This meeting plunges Rhiannon into a punk-soaked underworld, and her coming of age begins.

'Hits is a new Australian play. But it’s also a love letter – from your teenage self – to that song, that artist, or maybe that person, who came to you at your most awkward and misunderstood, and set your soul on fire.

'Also note that this is not, in any way shape or form, a tribute show or a music gig. Instead this is the premiere performance of a new Australian play, performed by an all-South Australian team. Nevertheless, the soundtrack will feature a lot of bangers.' (Production summary)
