Olga's father sells animal skins to fur traders who come once a year to buy his wares. Olga doesn't mind that her father trades in the furs of bears and wolves, but she wishes he wouldn't trap the beautiful white foxes. One day, he brings home for Olga the tail of a little white fox who managed to escape the trap, but at the expense of its tail. Olga is pleased for the fox, but sad, too. That night, Olga sleeps with the tail under her pillow, and wakes up to find an unexpected visitor.
