BiographyHistory

Sam Dinah has worked as an Aboriginal Liaison Officer for the Aboriginal Legal Service in Western Australia. Dinah was born at the Moore River Native Settlement. Although he has no record of his birth, he knows it was sometime between 1940-1946. After his mother died, a Government welfare truck rounded up the children on the settlement and took them to Perth; they stayed for a short time before being sent to Carrolup Mission near Katanning. Two years later he was again picked up and taken to Roelands Mission near Bunbury, where he stayed until a teenager.

Sam Dinah is the uncle of Noongar political leader Robert Riley (q.v.).
