BiographyHistory

Riza Colpan is a Kurdish writer who migrated to Australia in 1970. He was a founding member of the Australian Kurdish Association, formed in 1979. His first written works were in Turkish and it was not until 1977, when he saw the Kurdish language written for the first time, that he began to teach himself to read and write Kurdish, in both Latin and Cyrillic script. He now writes exclusively in Kurdish. [Source: Fire, Snow and Honey, pp. 447-455]
