BiographyHistory

Surma Hamid was an activist for women's rights in Iraq in the 1990s. She fled Iraq in 1998, and was granted refugee status by Australia in 1999. In Australia she continues her efforts to promote women's rights. [Source: Fire, Snow and Honey, pp. 372-381]
