Mahabad Fatah provides a powerful account of her life in northern Iraq, of her and her family's involvement in the the Kurdish resistance (peshmerga), of living as an exile and activist in Iran, and her eventual arrival in Australia as a refugee. The piece ends with her comment on life in Australia and of her, her husband's (Sarbast Fatah) and their children's ongoing commitment to Kurdistan.
