BiographyHistory

Dr Marita Bullock has worked with Dr Nicole Moore and Dr Monique Rooney on the compilation of the 'Banned in Australia' subset within AustLit. She was awarded her PhD from the University of New South Wales in 2005. Her thesis examined the contemporary permutations of modernity and postmodernity in relation to Australian visual culture and Walter Benjamin's writings on trash and cultural memory. Her thesis is being transformed into a book titled Memory Fragments: Excavations of Trash in Contemporary Visual Culture. Dr Bullock has published numerous articles on contemporary visual culture in journals such as Southerly, Australian Feminist Studies, Australian Humanities Review, and Philament. She has taught numerous subjects in the fields of literary and cultural theory and contemporary Australian writing and cultural studies at Macquarie University.
