BiographyHistory

Roberts spent her early years in England, and began writing poetry and short prose in her teens. She spent only three years at school. However, she became involved in literacy programs, contributing to the series of readers for Tasmania's Hear A Book program. Also an exhibited artist, Roberts' appreciation of the complexities and nuances of spoken word books increased when, in her seventies, she had to rely on them after her eyesight diminished.
