BiographyHistory

Composer.

American composer and music director Emil Beiermann was brought to Australia in 1913by J. C. Williamson to oversea the musical direction of Come Over Here, the first revue to be staged in the country. Prior to his engagement Biermann had reportedly written more than 500 songs and dirges (Punch 5 February 1914, p.33). During his time in Australia he collaborated with several local writers and performers, including Tom Armstrong and Frank Dix.

Biermann is believed to have remained in the country until late 1914, with one of his last engagements being as music director for Williamson's Forty Thieves pantomime (jncluding its Australian interstate tour).
