BiographyHistory

Patrick McConvell is a linguist who has worked with Kija people in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. He began recording their language while based at Warmun in the 1980s.

McConvell has produced a number of linguistic texts on Kija language, has taught linguistic and social anthropology at Charles Darwin (then Northern Territory) University and Griffith University, and has been a Research Fellow at the Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (IATSIS) and the Australian National University (ANU).
