BiographyHistory

In 1944, in Nazi-occupied Poland, Stan Gotowicz was a freedom fighter in the abortive Warsaw Rising of 1944. He was captured by the Germans, but managed to escape. After the war, he migrated to the West as a refugee and subsequently settled in Adelaide, South Australia. Gotowicz 'emerged as a leader of SA's Polish communiy and was the driving force behind raising funds to build the Dom Polski Centre - a cherished corner of old Europe in the city of Adelaide.'
