BiographyHistory

Buzz Kennedy was a newspaper columnist and media commentator for fifty years. His early life was scarred by the death of his mother and the hardships of the Great Depression. After service in the AIF during the Second World War, he became a journalist. For many years he wrote the front page 'Town Talk' column for the Daily Telegraph. He worked in radio (both commercial and ABC), in television from its earliest days in Australia, and he was literary editor, leader writer and columnist for the Australian. He also served as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Robert Menzies and as Press Secretary to the Queen Mother and to Princess Alexandra. Buzz Kennedy was awarded the Order of Australia medal in 1994.
