Javant Biarujia, of part Mediterranean, part Celtic descent and a speaker of Taneraic, French and Indonesian qualified under the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). He has written works which range between Asia, the Middle East, Asia Minor and Europe. Consequently his writing has sought inspiration in the eroticism, emotions, patterns, sounds, fragrances and systems of belief of all nations. His name comes from the personal language he began inventing at the age of thirteen.

Biarujia co-founded Nosukumo, a small publishing house specializing in poetry and literary criticism. He also founded and edited the journal Taboo Jadoo (1989-1994). His works have been published in numerous periodicals in Australia and overseas. He has acted as an editor and proofreader at Monash University and has been a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW), the Australian-Indonesian Association and was a co-founder of Carringbush Writers in 1981-82. He has also worked as a Persian rug specialist and as an interior designer.

He lives in Melbourne.
