In 1994 Carolyn Fraser moved from Australia to the US where she completed a master's degree at Columbia University and taught letterpress and bookmaking. She established
Idlewild Press, specialising in photographic artists books. In 2005, Fraser returned to Melbourne and moved into the sixth floor of the Nicholas Building at 27 Swanston Street, where, at her Idlewild Press studio, she has combined old letterpress printing techniques with computer technology to produce books of her own fiction as well as custom stationery. Her books have been collected by several major libraries here and overseas, including the Library of Congress.
