BiographyHistory

Noel Nannup is a Nyungar/Injabarndi man who has worked to promote public awareness of the importance of caring for the environment. His career has been dedicated to educating young Western Australians about the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal people and their lands; and, throughout that process, Noel has played an active and leading role in reconciliation. His father Charles William Nannup lived and worked around Mundaring Weir and he belonged to the Bibbulman people. Noel Nannup's mother was Alice Isobel Bassett and was from the Pilbara.

Twenty years ago Noel became one of Australia's first Aboriginal park rangers. He is employed as a senior Aboriginal Heritage Officer for the Aboriginal Tourism, Education and Training Unit in the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM).
