BiographyHistory

Conaci was one of two Aboriginal boys, the other being Dirimera (q.v.), chosen by Rosendo Salvado (q.v.) to become Australia's first Indigenous Benedictine monks. The boys began their Christian education at New Norcia, Western Australia, and then accommpanied Salvado to Spain and Italy. While training at an Italian monastery Conaci became ill. He died at the age of thirteen and is buried in Italy.
