BiographyHistory

Damain McDonald grew up in Canberra and undertook his education there. At sixteen he left school and moved to Sydney to pursue his dreams in the rock music industry. For about a decade McDonald lived in the western suburbs of Sydney before retuning to study. He later enrolled at the University of Canberra. McDonald's experiences of living in housing commission accommodation and mixing in urban sub-cultures in Sydney and Canberra informed the writing of his novel Luck in the Greater West. McDonald has also worked as a curator at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
