Born in Texas, Grace Gibson worked in radio in the United States for a number of years before she was recruited by Alfred Bennett, general manager of Sydney radio station 2GB, when he was visiting the US. Gibson and Bennett established American Radio Transcription Agencies (later Artransa Pty Ltd), for the purpose of selling pre-recorded American radio programs in Australia, and Gibson moved to Australia herself in 1934.
Barring a brief absence from Australia during World War II (she was on a buying trip in the US when Pearl Harbor was bombed, and was unable to return to Australia until 1944), she remained in Australia.
On her return, she set up her own company, Grace Gibson Productions, which became one of the biggest producers of radio programs in Australia.
