'Woodlands', built around 1884 and formerly known as 'Inglewood', was Ethel Turner's (q.v.) residence during the time she wrote Seven Little Australians. Turner lived at 'Woodlands' from September 1891 to December 1894. While living there she also wrote The Family at Misrule and The Story of a Baby. 'Seven Little Australians and its sequel [The Family at Misrule] were strongly influenced by the social and domestic environment of 'Woodlands' and its natural surroundings creating a provocative portrayal of children and Australian identity in the late 19th century.'
The other homes in which Turner wrote have all been demolished including 'Avenel', the house built by Turner and her husband, Herbert Curlewis (q.v.).
