Brown produced television programmes for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) from 1950-1955, and for Scottish Television and Granada Television from 1956 to 1963. Earlier in her career Brown acted under the name 'Mela Brown' to avoid confusion with an English actress of the same name.
