BiographyHistory

Born in Sydney, Summerville moved to the Kimberleys in 1966 and started writing there. She worked as a secretary, barmaid, and advertising copywriter. In 1983, Summerville had the distinction of being the first woman to win the Australian/Vogel award with her novel Shields of Trell. Her writing for the local Taree radio station was nominated (2003 and 2006) and won (2003) best station-produced commercial in the Australian Commercial Radio Awards. Summerville also continued her work as a sculptor.
