BiographyHistory

'Lachie Hume grew up on a farm in Victoria and spent his early years riding horses, playing football and tennis, and looking after his pet cow, Xena, whom he raised from a day-old calf. During a year off between school and university, Hume worked as a fencer, shed builder and vineyard hand before driving to Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory to work in a community medical centre. He is now studying Agricultural Science at Melbourne University.' (Publisher's blurb, Clancy the Courageous Cow (2006))
