As well as opera and musical theatre, Iain Grandage composed orchestral works, concert works and incidental music for radio and also orchestrated songs for individual artists and bands. In 1996 and 1998, Grandage was musical director and arranger for the national tours of the musical theatre Corrugation Road.
He collaborated with the Spinifex people of central Australia on the drama Career Highlights of the Mamu (2001), and on concert works. A documentary on these collaborations 'Ooldea' was broadcast on ABC TV in March 2007. Grandage composed scores for dance projects and for Australian plays including Cloudstreet (1998), Merry-Go-Round in the Sea : The Play (1996), Burning Time (1996) and The Rain Dancers (1990).
Grandage played in the band Wood, the contemporary ensemble Pi and with the cabaret singer Meowmeow. He was Composer-in-Residence with the Youth Orchestras of Australia and with the WA Symphony Orchestra.
