BiographyHistory

Dominic Paul McGuire was educated at the Christian Brothers' College and Adelaide University. His literary career was launched during a three-year visit to England, where he contributed to prominent reviews and wrote several novels. He subsequently returned to Adelaide where, in 1932, he published The Two Men, his only book of poetry. He served in the RAN during World War II. He was an Australian delegate to the UN General Assembly in 1953, and was Australian Ambassador to Italy. A prolific writer in a variety of genres, he published criticism, political commentary, novels, and crime writing.
