BiographyHistory

Magarey is a Melbourne writer who has worked in Adelaide as a journalist with The Advertiser and as a Victorian parliamentary reporter. He has degrees in humanities and creative writing from Adelaide and RMIT universities and is an accredited Spanish-English translator. In 1994 he left journalism to travel overseas and focus on creative writing. He has mountain-climbed and lived in indigenous communities in many of the world's most remote regions. He has published short stories and fiction and completed an MA in Creative Writing.

His 'Caught in the Cat' was the winning poem in the Animalia Literary Competition, 1997.
