BiographyHistory

prominent within the South Australian German community, Paul Bartels was a member of the Adelaide Harmonie Society around the late-1880s and 1890s. In collaboration with F. H. Dlausen he adapted and translated one of the works of French dramatist Mélesville (Anne-Honoré-Joseph Duveyrier, 1787-1865) for South Australian composer Moritz Heuzenroeder. Titled, The WindmillThe Windmill, the operetta was staged by the Harmonie Society in June 1891.
