Kaboora was established in 2003 as Aria Productions, with the small team producing content for ARMAN FM. In 2008 it changed its name in order to reflect the path the company was heading towards – one of growth, fresh beginnings , inspiration and new ideas. Today the company employs more than 200 people, producing content ranging from local programming for the country’s most popular TV channel, TOLO TV, to television commercials for private and government clients, music video clips, scriptwriting, graphic design, equipment hire and event planning and execution.
Kaboora, which is 100% Afghan owned and operated, has worked with a range of organisations including UN agencies, USAID, US Embassy, Afghanistan Parliament, Ministries of Defence, Agriculture, Counter Narcotics and Interior, Afghan National Army and Afghan National Development Strategy (ANDS). Commercial clients include Roshan, Kabul Bank, Azizi Bank, Nestle, Unilever, Coke and Etisalat.
Kaboora's other achievements include assisting Dreamworks with logistics and casting for the Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Kite Runner.’ It produced the award winning show, The 6.30 Report, for TOLO TV while the serial Secrets of this House was nominated for a special jury prize at the Seoul Drama Festival in 2008. The company won the 2011 prize for its hit drama series Eagle Four, which was co-produced by Australian-based firm, Put it Out There Pictures. The two production companies have worked together on several television and radio series.
