AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A weekly arts and entertainment newspaper, The Brisbane Review was initailly published as a supplement to Brisbane's City News. The first edition (26 September 1991) was called Entertainment Review. From the second edition it was known by its more familiar name. It ceased to be issued as a supplement with Issue 101 (Sept. 30, 1993) and was thereafter published separately.

Notes

  • Catalogue records published by Libraries Australia and the National Library of Australia indicate that The Brisbane Review ceased publication after issue 136 (5 July 1994). A number of secondary sources have cited reviews from The Brisbane Review as late as 1996, however. Among these are Alison Cotes's reviews of the 1995 Boggo Road Gaol production of Titus Andronicus (June), cited in Alan Hughes's Titus Andronicus: Blood Curdling Saga; and the La Boite Theatre productions Long Gone Lonesome Cowboy (28 September 1995), and Sex Diary of an Infidel (15 February 1996), both cited in AusStage.
